30th August 2000

181Km cross county of a 300Km task..all going (very) well till I met a 25 mile blue gap, probably a sea breeze..25 mins waiting for it to cycle, Nothing..I chickened out and turned for home...first 50Km in 32 mins! Next time!

31st July 2000

5 flying days...the weather may be bad, but the forecasting is worse! Beat a number of very expensive gliders without taking handicap into account...shame the pilot is such a 'big girls blouse' when it comes to pressing on regardless! Finished 48th! Slow but happy...

23rd July 2000

Oh deep joy. Day 2 of the regionals..scrubbed, the forecast is pants for the whole week, this is the worst summer in the UK for years...apart from LAST week, which saw 500K's galore, but of course because I have this week off I spent all that in my role of wage slave.....how much to aerotow CD1 to the US??

20th June 2000

Confirmation of my place in the 'Midland Regionals'..my first comp! 50 other gliders ranging from ASH's and LS8's right the way down to Discus's and LS7's! Actually there are a few Astir's and Libelles...and CD1. Takes place at the end of July...51 gliders in the first thermal...hmm, good job I've got small wings!

Got some more pictures of CD1.

25th May 2000

CD1 flys! After her maiden test flight in 20-25 kt winds, she is now type certified. One line summary? "Small, agile and goes like stink". Needless to say it has rained ever since.

19th May 2000

The very nice man from the BGA gave CD1 a big tick, so BGA #4802 is her official number...just one test flight (please be good weather next week) and I get to fly her!

17th May 2000

First pictures of CD1..this is how it is shipped from Russia, so no polish or markings...not bad eh? Take a look at the wing section, this is not a K8!

14th May 2000

Have seen CD1, really impressive...going through the 'type certification' process over the next week followed by a final test flight. Please let the God of good weather and diary management smile upon the inspector so that I can fly CD1 over the holiday weekend in 2 weeks time!

5th May 2000

Now being instrumented and checked out.... is 'good' apparently.

2nd May 2000

Out of Customs....needs a big lorry next!

29th April 2000
